Here's how to make your own cannabis oil for baking at home! There are many variations & ways to infuse cannabis oil, however using this recipe as a general guide and tweaking it to your strength preference is easy to do once you get the hang of it. Strength will be determined by the starting materials potency. A great way to determine the approximate potency of your oil is using an online edible calculator. See one here: http://hempster.co/
What’s needed:
- 14 grams of dried cannabis
- 1 Cup of coconut oil (buy refined, if you do not like the flavor of coconut)
- 1 Large Pot
- 1 Steel mesh strainer
- 1 Arm’s length of cheese cloth
- 1 Mason jar + lid
- 1 Casserole dish + lid
- 1 Tupperware/Pyrex container
- 1 Rubber gloves
With your 14 grams, place the cannabis (whole/unbusted buds) in a casserole dish with a lid on. Put the dish in the oven @ 240 degrees Fahrenheit for 40 minutes, after time expires; take out the casserole dish and let it cool on the stove top with the lid still on (this allows the vapors settle back into the cannabis). Now you have 14 grams of decarboxylated/activated cannabis. Next, grind the cannabis down either with your fingers or a grinder. Place the melted coconut oil and cannabis in the mason jar and seal it with the lid. Fill your pot more than half way with water and place mason jar inside it. You want enough water to create a double boiler. Float the mason jar for 6 hours on medium-low heat. Feel free to shake and agitate the mason jar every couple of hours.
